Dana Jacobs Obituary
Aug. 24, 1967 - Jan. 13, 2017
GOSHEN - Dana Jean Jacobs, age 49, of Goshen, was promoted to Glory on Friday, January 13, 2017 at Tenwek Hospital, Bomet, Kenya, East Africa. She was born August 24, 1967 in South Bend to Leslie and Beverly (Miller) Selig.
Dana was a graduate of John Adams High School. On July 27, 1991, she married Daniel Jacobs in South Bend.
Dana served at the Africa Gospel Church Baby Center alongside her husband Dan under World Gospel Mission. Dana's love for her own children and for the Children of Africa meant more to her than everything even though she had been through many years of trials with her health, and in the end truly gave her all for God's purpose. She will be loved, missed, and never forgotten. Our pain is only comforted by the fact that we know she is now with her Heavenly Father completely healed. All those around her knew how much she loved her husband and the rest of her family. She was a godly woman and a biblical example of what a wife and a mother are to be. She touched many lives around the world and her absence will be truly felt. Prior to becoming a missionary, Dana was a stay at home mom and home schooled her children. She was a member of the Nappanee Missionary Church.
Surviving is her husband, Daniel Jacobs; son, Carson Jacobs, Taylor University, IN; daughters, Talia (Bryson) Bauer, Goshen, Hope Jacobs, Ngata, Kenya; stepchildren, Nathan (Tiffany) Jacobs, Granger, Andrea (John) Garnett, Mishawaka; grandchildren, Elisabeth Mathis, William Garnett, Miriam Garnett, Audrey Lilly; parents, Leslie and Beverly Selig, Mishawaka; and sisters, Debbie (Bill) Cook, Wakarusa and Dawn (Terry) Powell, Dowagiac, MI. She was preceded in death by a brother, Douglas Selig.
Family and friends may call 2-4 and 6-8, Friday, January 27, 2017 at the Nappanee Missionary Church Chapel and 1 hour prior to the 10:00 am funeral service, Saturday, January 28th at Nappanee Missionary Church. Pastor Dave Engbrecht will officiate and burial will be in Chapel Hill Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be given to the AGC Baby Centre or Susan Komen Breast Cancer Awareness.
Arrangements are with Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee.

While I only ever met Dana a few times through her coming and going at her parents house, I always knew that she was an amazing person. She was a Godly woman, and a woman with a passion for loving children so much that she would always put their needs above her own. Les and Bev, I love you like my own parent! For you to hurt is for me to hurt. I am here for anything that you may need. PLEASE reach out if you need anything at all. It is times like this that we ALL must come together, if we come together as a group, if one of us falls, the others are here to catch them. I am here for you! I love you! And God cover the Jacob family with understanding, that you always have a plan. Please bring understanding to their hearts.

I went to middle school and high school with Dana. She was the sister I never had. We hadn't seen each other for 30 years but got together this past summer for coffee and it was like all those years just melted away and we fell into the friendship we had so many years ago. Dana was a beautiful treasure.

Dana was like a sister to me growing up together... we were so close, told each other all of our secrets and ambitions. I've missed her very much during all the years she was in Africa, but am very happy that she died in a place that she loved so much!
Bev and Wes (Mom and Dad), I am here for you for absolutely anything that you need! Please don't hesitate to call me... I love your family very much! Dana will be missed terribly.

Jacobs Family: Although I did not have the privilege of knowing Dana personally, I value the friendship of her in-laws. They have had so many challenges in their lives and maintain a strong faith in our Savior. Dana and Dan's mission in Africa was a calling, and I'm sure blessed many. May God find a way for it to continue. Praying for comfort for this entire family during this difficult time. Sorry we cannot be there. God Bless.
