David Charles Contat

MISHAWAKA - David Charles Contat, 56, of Columbus, Georgia, went to be with Jesus on December 8th, 2013. David was born in Mishawaka on July 22, 1957, to Charles G. and Mildred (Matz) Contat. He graduated from Penn High School where he played on the football team. After graduating from Penn he joined the United States Air Force where he served as a firefighter on the fire department for 24 years. During his years in the Air Force he was stationed all over the world. David enjoyed the outdoors and loved fishing. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles, who passed away on January 5, 2005, his mother, Mildred, who passed away on February 25, 2001, and a brother, Larry Contat, in March of 2011. David is survived by a son, Nathan of Waldorf, MD; and his siblings: Dale R. (Tillie) Contat of Land O Lakes, Florida, Rosemary (Marshall) Dixon of Elkhart, Indiana, Devon (Erna) Biesbrook of Mishawaka and Peg Hesch of Columbus, Georgia. He also leaves behind his four-legged companion, Mojo, who was by his side 'til the end, and his dear friend, Cindy Smith of Cocoa Beach, FL, who always stood by him. Friends may visit with the family on Friday, December 13, 2013, in the Bubb Funeral Chapel from noon until service time. A service celebrating David's life will be held in the funeral chapel at 1:00 pm, with Rev. Ervin Mize officiating. He will be laid to rest next to his parents at the Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Osceola.
