NEW CARLISLE - Donna F. Bowker, 84, of Mishawaka, Indiana, passed away at 6:35 p.m. Sunday, August 13, 2017, in St. Joseph Regional Medical Center. Donna was born on January 7, 1933, in Warsaw, Indiana, to Roy and Oda (Kring) Garman. On May 26, 1951, she married Charles “Chuck” Bowker, Sr., who preceded her in death on February 23, 2003. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Pamela Sayre. Donna is survived by one daughter, Melloday A. (Joseph) Hakes of LaPorte, IN; one son, Charles O. (Linda) Bowker Jr. of Laporte, IN; one son-in-law, Larry Sayre of Travelers Rest, SC; seven grandchildren, Sam (Tamara) Colalillo, Jr., Tony Colalillo, Andrea (Phil) Jenkins, Scott (Wendy) Hakes, Jamie (Sam) Brown, Erika Smith, and Nate (Michelle) Bowker; twelve great-grandchildren; two sisters and one brother. A visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m, E.S.T. Thursday, August 17, 2017, in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 201 S. Filbert St., New Carlisle, IN. A Funeral Service will take place at 1:00 p.m., E.S.T. Thursday in the funeral home. Burial will follow at New Carlisle Cemetery. my great grandmother was called the purple people eater at her nursing home because she always wore this fuzzy purple out fit we got her for Christmas and it made me and my mother Andrea laugh because it was good to hear that she was making friends and talking to people. The people that worked there loved her and it was terrible news when we heard she passed away
