Franklin Booth Obituary

Franklin M. Booth, M.D. Nov. 5, 1921 - June 5, 2014 GRANGER - Franklin M. Booth, 92, passed away at 1:30 am, Thursday, June 5, 2014 in the Sanctuary at Holy Cross. Franklin was born November 5, 1921 in Valley Park, MO, he was preceded in death by his parents, George and Lilia (Miller) Booth and his four siblings; Betty, Jane, George, and Sarah. He is survived by his wife, Janis Booth and their families. Married October 1, 1967, Franklin and Janis, together, had two daughters, Adriann Shepherd of Battle Creek, MI, and Briann Booth of Granger, IN. Franklin was also a proud grandfather of Andrew Shepherd, Wabash, IN, and Austin Shepherd, Battle Creek, MI; and a great-grandfather to Andrew and Boston Shepherd, Wabash, IN; Franklin is also survived by his brothers and sisters in-law, Boyd (Sophie) Miller, Greg (Nancy) Miller, Bruce Miller, Cindy Miller; and many nieces and nephews. Franklin Booth was active in the military during WWII in the infantry division of the Army. There he was a Medic, and received two Bronze Stars. This time served helped lead him to his future career in Medicine. Franklin was a Plastic Surgeon retiring after 50 years of service in 2001. He was active in numerous organizations, including the Red Cross, where he served on the board of directors, and the St. Joseph Ski Club, where he was president for several years. Franklin not only volunteered his time to these and other organizations, but also volunteered his services to the Children's Clinic of Northern Indiana. There he helped countless children with deformities. Franklin was also the area's burn doctor before Fort Wayne's burn center opened. Franklin prided himself on helping anyone in need, no matter their economic situation. He had many hobbies, but most noteworthy was his love of flying his V tailed Bonanza. Visitation for Franklin will be 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Monday, June 9, 2014 in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Rd. where a Funeral Ceremony will be celebrated at 11:00 am Tuesday, June 10, 2014. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. Dr. Booth was my favorite doctor to work with in surgery. He was so excellent and precise--I loved that about him. When I worked in surgery, my name was Mary Knight. Blessings to his wonderful family.
