Henry Kowalski Obituary
SOUTH BEND - Henry S. Kowalski, 81, passed away at 7:50 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 23 in Memorial Hospital. Henry was born on Nov. 14, 1925 in South Bend, to the late Frank and Josephine (Soboleski) Kowalski. On June 17, 1950, in St. Casmir Catholic Church, Henry married Elsie Deguch and she passed away on June 30, 1965. Also preceding him in death were two brothers, Abe and Stanley Kowalski. Surviving Henry are his children, Cathy Kowalski, Karen (Rick) Borkowski, Pam (Mike) Stearns and Mark (Sue) Kowalski, all of South Bend; grandchildren, Rick Borkowski Jr., Tony Stearns, Angela Stearns, Jennifer Kowalski and Angel Kowalski; sisters, Irene (Lenny) Nies of Phoenix, AZ, and Lottie (Harry) Zmyslo of Elkhart; and brothers, Walt (Mary) Kowalski and Al Kowalski, both of South Bend. Henry was a parishioner at Holy Family Catholic Church. He was the owner of H. Kowalski Auto Parts City, South Bend. He will be best remembered as a loving father who enjoyed living life to the fullest with his family. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 26 in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Road, South Bend, where a Rosary will be prayed at 4:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 27 in Holy Family Catholic Church. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, South Bend. For those who are unable to attend the funeral liturgy, condolences for the family may be sent to www.sjfh.net.

A neighbor just told me. Mr. Kowalski was my neighbor for 36 years and I always will remember him waving as he walked to church on Saturday afternoons. I feel very sad to have found that he has passed away.
