GRANGER - Howard Thomas “Tom” Taylor, 89, passed away on Monday, January 15, 2018 at Hamilton Grove in New Carlisle.
Tom was born on September 28, 1928 in Mishawaka to Warren John and Ethel (Compton) Taylor. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Tommy Dee Taylor and a daughter, Martie Guess; a sister, Joanne Jones; two brothers, George Taylor and John Taylor and a granddaughter, Jennifer Walkowiak.
On October 26, 1946 he married the love of his life, Frances L Richards; she preceded him in death on September 7, 1995. Surviving are eight children, Linda (Bob) Stouder of New Carlisle, Vicki (Frank) Maley of Dowagiac, MI, Connie (Rick) Quier of Elkhart, Peggy (John) Jones of Bremen, Wendy (Curt) Willis of Elkhart, and Janice Bell of Elkhart, who he thought of as a seventh daughter, Gary (Jan) Taylor of Mishawaka, Charlie Taylor of Mishawaka and Dennis (Lucia) Taylor of Granger. He is also survived by 70 grand, great and great-great grandchildren; sister, Carol Lakomski of New Mexico, Jane Fricano of New Mexico and Joyce Young of Denver, CO and a brother, Harvey Taylor of Mishawaka.
Tom worked for Casteel Construction in South Bend where he was a Brick Mason for over 50 years. He loved fishing; Notre Dame, Chicago White Sox and Green Bay Packers. He was a proud graduate of Mishawaka High School, Class of 1946 and a member of Mishawaka Alumni Association. But the most important thing in his life was his family; they came first before everything.
Visitation will be on Thursday, January 18 from 4 to 8 p.m. in Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka. Funeral services will be on Friday, January 19 at 11 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Mishawaka.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Heartland Hospice, 230 W. Catalpa Suite D, Mishawaka, IN 46545.
