Huey Groning Obituary
SOUTH BEND - Huey L. Groning, 76, of South Bend, passed away Friday, October 28, 2011, in Hospice House of Elkhart County. Huey was born on July 11, 1935, in Lafe, Ark., the son of the late Joe and Lillian (Burnes) Groning. On May 24, 1954, he married Sue Cullen in Mississippi. He is survived by his loving wife, Sue of South Bend; three sons, Ronald (Jean) Groning of Mishawaka, Dennis (Melinda) Groning of Mishawaka and Richard (Carol) Groning of North Webster, IN; daughter-in-law, Annette Groning of Nappannee; 15 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister, Mary Sheffield of Jacksonville, Ark. He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Joe Lynn Groning, and brother, Hubert Groning. Huey was an electrician for Uniroyal for 36+ years before his retirement in 1990. He played on the Uniroyal Men's Fast Pitch Softball league for the Shamrock Café for many years. He loved fishing and hunting, and coached Little League for over 20 years. Visitation will be held from 2:00-6:00 pm today, October 30, 2011, in Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Highway, Osceola. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Monday, October 31, 2011, in the funeral home, with burial to follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola.
