George Thomas Ramsey

GEORGE THOMAS RAMSEY (Wayo/Miterko) Age 74 years, of Cedar Lake, IN, died on Thursday, February 5, 2004. He was born to Elizabeth Wayo and Thomas Miterko in Hammond, but was adopted by the Ramsey family at birth. He is survived by four sons: Michael (Linda) Zuehlke and Patrick (Rosalie) Keith, both of Colorado, Daniel (Kate) Keith of Lowell, IN, and William (Lori) Keith of St. John, IN; nine grandchildren; and six great grandchildren. A memorial gathering for family and friends to honor his life will be held Thursday, March 4, 2004 from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. at: V.F.W. Post #717, 10400 W. 93rd Avenue, St. John, IN 46373. George grew up in Hammond, IN and attended Hammond High School, where he was a runner on the track team. He graduated in 1947, and later served in the U.S. Navy in Morocco during the Korean War. He retired from IBEW #597 Hammond. He loved to fish, camp, and sing. He was a longtime member of the "Chorus of the Dunes" where he sang lead in many quartets. He had a great sense of humor and a knack for making conversation with everyone he met.
