Karen Lowery Obituary

Aug. 18, 1950 - April 27, 2010
NEW CARLISLE - Mrs. Karen S. Lowery, 59, of New Carlisle, Indiana, died Tuesday, April 27, 2010, in LaPorte Hospital. She was born August 18, 1950, in LaPorte, Indiana, the daughter of Stanley Dopieralski and Marion "Boots" (Clem) Dopieralski. She had lived in the New Carlisle area all of her life. Karen was a member of St. John Kanty Catholic Church. Karen enjoyed volunteering at the Rolling Prairie Elementary School, traveling to Las Vegas, doing yard work and playing cards. She loved baking and cooking. Karen loved spending time with her family, grandchildren and friends. On April 22, 1978, in Rolling Prairie, IN, she married Duane D. Lowery who survives. She is also survived by her two daughters, Nicole (Kevin) Wheatbrook of Rolling Prairie, IN, and Angela Lowery of LaPorte, IN; two grandchildren, Macy Wheatbrook and Ella Wheatbrook; one sister, Sandy Surma of Rolling Prairie, IN; and two brothers, Steve Dopieralski of New Carlisle, IN, and Stanley Dopieralski of New Carlisle, IN. Karen was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Bev Degraf, and brother, Don Dopieralski. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, Ind., where the family will receive friends Thursday, April 29, 2010, from 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. & Friday, April 30, 2010, 10:00 a.m. until time of service in the church. A memorial service will be held in Rolling Prairie United Methodist Church on Friday, April 30, 2010, at 11:00 AM, with Rev. Dorothy Jones officiating. Cremation will take place. Memorial contributions may be made to the South Bend Memorial Hospital Maternity Department. Online condolences may be sent to www.haverstockfuneralhome.com.
