Krystle Dikes Obituary
ELKHART - Krystle Lauren Dikes, 20, of Elkhart, passed away on Wednesday, January 15, 2014, at Martin's Supermarket at Cobblestone. Krystle was born on April 7, 1993, in Elkhart, Indiana, to Shaun Allen and Juanita (Skoblikoff) Dikes. Surviving are her father, Shaun A. (Charlotte) Dikes of Shipshewana; mother, Juanita (David) Whitacre of Bristol; sister, Heather Marie Dikes of Bristol. Also surviving are stepbrothers, Matthew (Leann) Whitacre, Mark (Kim) Whitacre and Jason Bayless; stepsisters, Jaime (Jahred) Gamez and Jessica Bayless (Jon) Becker, Megan (Nathan) Erwin, Melissa Whitacre and Macy Whitacre; maternal grandparents, Maria and Ray Kelley of Riverside, CA, Philip Burkey of Bristol, Bill and Jeanette Whitacre; great-grandmother, Juanita Pena of Chicago; paternal grandparents, Marla and Reg McCreery of Middlebury; and great-grandmothers, Gerry Watkins, and Jane and Dick Beatty, both of Elkhart. Krystle was preceded in death by her grandfather, David Allen Dikes, and great-grandfathers, Gordon Watkins and Barney Dikes. Several nieces and nephews also survive including Avery Gamez and Evelyn Gamez. Krystle was working as a stocker at Martin's Supermarket at Cobblestone. She also was working part-time with an area family who had children with special needs. She attended Elkhart Central High School and went on to attain her GED, graduating with honors. Krystle attended the Elkhart Area Career Center and was very involved with the TAPP program and Child Development Program. She had hoped to one day open her own daycare, because of her immense love for children. Krystle had a passion for art, photography and music. Her friends will remember Krystle for her contagious laugh and bubbly personality. She has flown away on her angel wings. Please join with her family and friends as we gather to celebrate her life with visitation from 2-8 p.m. on Tuesday, January 21, 2014, at the First Baptist Church, 53953 CR 17, Bristol, IN 46507. Services celebrating her life will begin at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 22, 2014, with calling 1 hour prior, also at First Baptist Church. Pastor Phil Byars will officiate. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly request memorials to be shared with Pet Refuge, 4626 S. Burnett Dr., South Bend, IN 46614; or the TAPP Program or Child Development Program at the Elkhart Area Career Center, 2424 California Road, Elkhart, IN 46514. In my mind you have always been the sweet, happy, smart, funny, kind, and loving child that you were the day you were born, the days you learned to walk, the days you began forming sentences (& then never stopped). The beautiful child turned teen, and then young adult who had amazing talents and a wonderful soul. I miss you every day and will always proudly carry you in my heart.
