Lawrence Good "Sheepie" Mail

OSCEOLA - Lawrence Good "Sheepie" Mail, 88, of Griffith Street, Osceola, passed away at Hospice House, South Bend following an illness. He was born in Lacota, Michigan to George and Edith (Good) Mail who preceded him in death. In 1944, he married the former Joan Masters in South Bend. She survives with two daughters: Sandra Mitchell of Bangor, Michigan and Susan (John) Trawitz of Granger, Indiana. Also surviving are his grandchildren: Brett Patolski, Jeff Patulski, Ginger Mitchell, Angela Nickles, Jason Young, Eric Mail and Evan Mail. Several great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild also survive along with a daughter-in-law, Debbie Simms-Mail of Osceola, and a brother, Bob (Jean) Mail of South Haven, Michigan, along with several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, Steven Lawrence Mail, who died in 2010, two brothers and a sister. Mr. Mail was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving during World War II. He was a member of the Sheet Metal Worker #164, serving as past treasurer and president. He was an executive board member until 1986. He also served on many of our negotiations committees throughout his years as a member. He was on the Zoning and Planning Board for the town of Osceola and also a trustee of the Osceola United Methodist Church. He belonged to the V.F.W. and the American Legion Post # 308. He was very interested in gardening. He and his wife Joan would grow and give away their corn and beans and squash and peppers to friends and family. But this is a labor of love for Sheepie who could spend hours each day taking care of his garden. At his request, there will be a memorial service at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 22, 2012 with one-hour visitation prior at the Osceola United Methodist Church, 431 N. Beech Rd. in Osceola. Cremation will take place. Bubb Funeral Chapel, Mishawaka, is in charge of the arrangements.
