GRANGER - Lester B. “Les” Sampson, 93, of Granger went to be with the Lord Wednesday January 27, 2016. He was born in Mishawaka October 2, 1922 to the late Blanche (Dudley) and Oscar Sampson. Also preceding him in death were his sisters, Ethel Smith and Bonnie Valdes. On October 2, 1949 in Wakarusa he married the former Mary Dubbs who survives. Also surviving are his daughters, Carol Sciba (John) of Granger and Linda Yoder (Toby) of South Bend; his son, Wayne L. Sampson (Gloria) of Richmond, TX; nine grandchildren, Tammy Vargo (Pat), Jeff Sciba, Michael Sciba (Shannon), David Sampson (Heather), Sherry, Tanya and Cory Czarnecki, and Jason and Craig Sampson; seven great-grandchildren, Connor Vargo, Addiana and Grace Sciba, Nathaniel, Mikayla, Nicholas and Casey Sampson; and brother, Charles Sampson (Dora) of Penn, MI.

Les retired as an electrical engineer from I & M Electric Co. after 37 plus years of service. He served in the United States Army Air Corps and was an Instructor Link Trainer during WWII. He and Mary were members of Granger Missionary Church. He was also a member of the South Bend Optimist Club and I&M employees club. The family would like to thank Asera Care/Hospice of Elkhart and his caregiver Tammy for all their help during his illness.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday February 1st in the Welsheimer Family Funeral Home North, 17033 Cleveland Rd. Committal services and burial will follow in Mission Hills Memorial Gardens, Niles. Friends may visit with the family in the funeral home on Monday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
