Mark Simmons Obituary

June 5, 1959 - May 30, 2007
SOUTH BEND - Mark Anthony *Tony* Simmons Sr., 47, of South Bend, left us peacefully to be with our Lord and Savior on May 30, 2007. He was born June 5, 1959, to the union of Archie Simmons Sr. and the late Phyllis Simmons. Mark was a graduate from the 1978 class of LaSalle High School. He accepted Christ in his life at an early age, was a longtime employee of Raco and was currently employed at SSD Controls. He was preceded in death by his mother, Corporal Phyllis Simmons in July 1981; maternal grandmother, Mable Brown; and his paternal grandfather, Willie Simmons. Those left to cherish his memory include one son, Mark A. Simmons Jr. of Milwaukee; father, Archie Simmons Sr. of South Bend; great-aunt and surviving mother figure, Rubye Walker Paige, also of South Bend; fiancée, Ramona Forshee; three brothers, Michael Simmons of Kentucky, Steven D. Simmons of Reno, NV, and Archie (Carolyn) Simmons Jr. of Elkhart; three sisters, Crystal (Terry) Lighthall, Phyllis (Wilbur) Campbell and Karla (Larry) Parker, all of South Bend; paternal grandmother, Ophelia Mooney of St. Anne, IL; four stepchildren, Shemeka and Samona Lockett of South Bend, Aneasha (Warren) Moore of Indianapolis, IN, and Jeremy Lacy, also of South Bend, IN; very special nieces and nephews, Karla (Frank) Lipsey, Crystal Harden, LaShaunda Parker, Shareena Randall, Larry Parker Jr., Terrence Parker, Terry Lighthall Jr., Wilbur Campbell Jr., and an extra special nephew, Carlis "Woo-Woo" Simmons; special uncles, Mike Mooney and Larry Cox Sr.; an aunt, Loretta Banks; and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services for Mr. Mark Anthony Simmons will be held on Tuesday, June 5, 2007, in the Clark-O'Neal Funeral Home, 2702 Lincoln Way West. Visitation at noon; funeral service will begin at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery. The Clark-O'Neal Funeral Home has been entrusted with the services.

I knew Tony as a lifelong friend and in rembering him I can recall that his gentle spirit never changed. He was always a happy and friendly person who enjoyed his life and valued friendships.
