SOUTH BEND - Michael Robert Heim, 66, of South Bend died Tuesday morning in Memorial Hospital following a brief illness. Mike was born August 29, 1949 in South Bend to the late Frances (Emmons) and Robert H. Heim and was a lifetime area resident. He is survived by his brother, James T. Heim of South Bend.
Mike was a 1967 graduate of the former LaSalle High School and also graduated from Purdue University. He served as a high school teacher in Angola, Indiana. He was also a proud member of St. Joseph Lodge #45 F & AM.
Private burial will take place at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park. There will be no visitation or services. Welsheimer Family Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Family and friends may leave e-mail condolences at www.welsheimer.com.

I just learned of Mike's passing. I knew Mike at Purdue where he was a constant friend, and over the years we have tried to stay in touch. This is a sad day.
