Nancy Piekarski Obituary

SOUTH BEND - Nancy Jean Piekarski, 66, of South Bend, Indiana passed away on Tuesday, May 8, 2018 in Memorial Hospital. Nancy was born on May 17, 1951 in South Bend, Indiana, to the late Dale and Janet (Collier) Fortin. On November 2, 1974, she married Thomas S. Piekarski in St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. Tom survives along with one daughter, Alison Piekarski of Chicago, Illinois; two sons, Andrew Piekarski and Patrick (Courtney) Piekarski, both of South Bend, Indiana; one sister, Carol (Randy) Hoyes of Anderson, South Carolina; one brother, Robert Fortin of Niles, Michigan; two nephews, Dale (Amy) Hoyes and Jason (Lindsay) Hoyes; and one niece, Katie Fortin. Nancy was a longtime member of St. Matthew Cathedral in South Bend. Nancy's family was her number one priority in life. She was so excited for her first grandchild to be born in September. Nancy valued the relationships she developed with the students, faculty, and staff while managing the bookstore at Marian High School. Visitation will be from 2:00 until 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 13, 2018 at the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Dr., South Bend, where a Rosary will be prayed at 2:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, May 14, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. in St. Matthew Cathedral. Interment will follow in Southlawn Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Knights in Need through Marian High School. Online condolences may be left at www.kaniewski.com.
