Robert Northam Obituary
WALKERTON - Robert W. Northam, 79, of Walkerton, passed away at 10:59 PM on Thursday, February 13th, at St. Joseph County Hospice. Robert was born on June 21, 1934, in Walkerton, to John W. & Eula O. (Hancock) Northam. Mr. Northam retired in 1995 from Honeywell Corporation where he was a Senior Administrator in the Planning Department. On October 23, 1954, Robert married the former Nancy L. Neiswender, who survives. Robert is also survived by one daughter, Jill J. (Scott) Hostetler of Walkerton; one son, Mark W. (Shelly) Northam of Macy, IN; two sisters, Betty J. (Howard) Helton of Knox, IN, and Elsie E. Neil of Bedford, IN. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Joshua Northam, Carly Sims, Katie Ready, Jason Northam, Emma Jane Hostetler, and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother, John D. Northam. Robert enjoyed golfing, traveling, sports, wood working, and spending time with his family, friends, and grandchildren. He also was an avid Chicago Cubs fan. He was a member of the North Liberty Masonic Lodge #266 F.&A.M. for over 50 years and the Walkerton United Methodist Church. Masonic services will be held at 7:00 PM Monday in the funeral home. He will be dearly missed by his loving family, his church family, and all who knew this wonderful man during his life journey. Visitation will be Monday, Feb. 17th, from 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM at Hanley and Sons Funeral Home "Walkerton Chapel," located at 1216 Roosevelt Road Walkerton. Services will be Tuesday, Feb. 18th, at 11:00 AM at Walkerton United Methodist Church, with Pastor Perry Richards officiating. Friends may visit at the church one hour prior to service. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Walkerton. The family requests that all memorial contributions be made to Walkerton United Methodist Church, located at 1000 Georgia St., Walkerton, IN 46574. Condolences may be expressed online through our website: www.hanleyandsonsfuneralhomes.com. The HANLEY and Sons Funeral Home "Walkerton Chapel" handled arrangements and extends it deepest sympathy and heartfelt prayers to the Northam family.

Needless to say, Bob was a GREAT person! I worked with him from a distance in the late 80's to mid 90's. He was one of the first people that helped me understand the concept of MRP. I always enjoyed seeing him when he came down to Rocky Mount, NC. My condolences to his family.

Bob and I grew up pitching imaginary baseball games to each other, as well as playing morning-to-night basketball on the lot beside his home. I've thought of him often in the 60 years since. He was a superb athlete, and an even better
person and friend.

I was fortunate to sit next to Bob for several years at Bendix. He was a great mentor and inspiration for work and life. Bob was one of the most patient men I have ever worked with. He was always positive, kind, and ready for a round of golf. God Bless Bob!

I worked with Mr. Northam when I was in college for RGIS.....we inventoried grocery and other retail stores all throughout the area. He was always impeccably dressed, even though we crawled on the floors alot and he was a very hard worker. Rest in peace, my friend.

Bob was my first boss at Bendix. He was an awesome man and taught me a lot. Famous line from Bob if something went wrong was, "It seemed like the right thing to do at the time". Still makes me smile.

I had the pleasure of working with Bob for several years on a "long distance" basis. What a pleasant and helpful person he was. If ever a bad word was said about Bob, I never heard it.
May God's boundless love comfort his family and loved ones in their loss.
