SOUTH BEND, IN - Rosa (Rose) S. Hahn, 94, formerly of South Bend, Indiana, died peacefully on November 27 at Dickson Hollow Arbor in Menomonee Falls, WI. She spent 92 years of her life in the South Bend area before moving to Wisconsin in May of 2016 due to health issues and to be near family.

Rosa was born on March 15, 1924 in South Bend to Frank and Frances Hahn who immigrated to the United States from Austria in 1922. She lived a long and full life and everyone who knew her would probably agree that she was a friendly and outgoing soul, which would make her very happy.

Growing up, Rosa lived and went to school in the South Bend area including North Liberty and Granger. She attended Oliver School, North Liberty School, and graduated from Washington Clay High School in 1941. Rosa then attended South Bend Business College and Patricia Stevens Finishing and Modeling School in Chicago, IL, from which she graduated in 1947. This gave her the opportunity to model part-time while also working at other jobs. Rosa was a striking model standing almost six feet tall.

While working, Rosa lived for more than 43 years in the Walnut Grove area of South Bend. Her career included employment at Studebaker Corporation as a secretary for 23 years. After that Rosa worked for more than 13 years as a secretary and in the library at Bayer (formerly Miles) in Elkhart, IN. Upon retiring she still wanted to work to be social and productive. Rosa found that in a part-time job at Martin's Supermarket on South Bend Avenue where she was a demonstration hostess passing out new food products to customers. She developed quite a following and was at Martin's for 20 years working into her 80s.

Outside of work Rosa volunteered at the Leighton Center, the Northern Indiana Historical Museum, Century Center, the College Football of Fame, and St. Anthony de Padua Catholic Church. She was a longtime member of St. Anthony de Padua and the Daughters of Isabella.

Never having married, Rosa became active in various clubs and organizations. She was a member of the Mary Ann Club, Glee Club, and bowling and golf leagues while at Studebaker. Rosa loved to travel and often visited her siblings and her many nieces and nephews in various locations throughout the U.S. She also traveled to her parents' birth villages in Austria on several occasions.

Rosa is preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Frances Hahn; brother, Frank J. Hahn; sister-in-law, Audrey A. Hahn; sister, Elizabeth Ann Mast and brother-in-law, Glenn L. Mast. She is survived by her brother, Robert B. Hahn and sister-in-law, Patricia J. Hahn in North Carolina. She was blessed with six nieces, three nephews, 32 great- and great-great-nieces and nephews.

There will be a Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, December 14 at St. Anthony de Padua Church, 2114 E. Jefferson Blvd., South Bend. Immediately following, the burial will take place at Highland Cemetery, 2257 Portage Ave., South Bend. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend.
