Scott "Slim" Patman

1957 - 2015

Scott "Slim" Patman, 57, of Vallonia, peacefully slipped into the arms of our Lord on Monday, Jan. 5, 2015, while surrounded by his immediate family at Floyd Memorial Hospital in New Albany.
He was born June 25, 1957, in Seymour and was the son of Raymond Levi Patman and Mary Ann Eggersman Patman. His parents preceded him in death. Scott married Libby Herndon Patman on Dec. 18, 1977.
Scott was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Brownstown. He was a 1975 graduate of Brownstown Central High School and then joined the Army National Guard in 1975 where he served until 1981. He then worked in the family construction business until his health prevented him from working. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, sports and riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycles.
He raced street stock and modified dirt-track cars all over Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio, Illinois and various other tracks across the eastern half of the country, even traveling as far as Amarillo, Texas, in 1995 to compete in the inaugural $50,000-to-win Texas Gold Rush. He won around 90 features, six track championships, multiple special events at various tracks around the region and in 2013 was elected, along with his brother, Tom Patman, to the Brownstown Speedway Hall of Fame.
Survivors include his wife; son, Nathan Patman; daughter-in-law, Angie Patman; grandson, Brendan Patman; a brother, Tom (Stacey) Patman; and a sister, Susan (Dewey) Robinson.
The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Johnson Funeral Home in Vallonia.
Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Friday.
