SOUTH BEND - Thomas N. Hanner, 75, of South Bend, Indiana, passed away on Wednesday, February 10, 2016, in his home. Thomas was born on September 21, 1940, in Benton Harbor, Michigan, to Robert L. and Grace E. (Richards) Hanner. He had lived in South Bend since 1965, coming from Benton Harbor. Thomas retired in December 1997 from Butternut Bread. He had been employed with Kreamo and Butternut Bread for 34 years as a salesman. Thomas is survived by his two daughters, Dawn (Dan) Sumption of South Bend, Indiana, and Denise (Ron) Pletcher of Elkhart, Indiana; four grandchildren, Stephanie Sumption, Meagan Sumption, Seth Hanner and Taylor Hanner; one step-grandchild, Kristyn Pletcher; and one brother, Terry Hanner of Coloma, Michigan. Thomas was preceded in death by four brothers, David, Richard, Michael, and Robert Hanner. Funeral services will take place at 12 noon, Monday, February 15, 2016, in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery, where members of the United States Air Force and the American Legion Post #357 will conduct Military Services. A visitation will take place from 10:00 a.m. until 12 noon Monday in the funeral home. Thomas served in the United States Air Force from 1961-1965. He was a member of the American Legion Pulaski Post #357. Thomas enjoyed bowling and was a NASCAR and Chicago Cubs fan. To send online condolences, please visit kaniewski.com.

Will miss my cousin Tom. Had not talked to him since his brother Bobby died. Just found out that Tom passed also. Always was good to talk to him. He cared for his family.
