Thomas I. Powell

Dec. 14, 1946 - May. 24, 2021

GRANGER - Thomas I. Powell, 74, of Granger passed away peacefully on Monday, May 24, 2021 at his home. He was born December 14, 1946 in South Bend, IN to the late James L. and Geneva Rose (Lauderback) Powell. On May 24, 2000 in South Bend, he married Arlene (Lehman) Powell, who preceded him in death on March 21, 2021.

Thomas is survived by his son, Chuck (Kelly) Powell of Osceola, IN; daughters, Shelly (Jim) Tomlinson of Holly Springs, NC, Kris Powers of South Bend, IN, and April Powell of South Bend, IN; stepsons, Tim (Patty) Walker of Granger, IN, Tony (Cathy) Walker of Granger, IN, and Chris (Alicia) Walker of Granger, IN; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Thomas proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and spent many years serving our National Guard. He was an avid hunter, trapper, and fisherman, and loved dogs, especially his latest “spoiled dog” basset hound, Sam. He was the former owner of Powell's Gun Shop in Granger. Thomas was a member of the VFW, DAV, and NRA.

In keeping with Thomas' wishes, there will be no services at this time. Palmer Funeral Homes-Hickey Chapel and Southlawn Cremation services are assisting the family with arrangements.
