Oct. 12, 1950 - June 24, 2018

GRANGER - Vicki Goff-Kastlie, 67, passed away June 24, 2018 in San Diego, CA. Vicki was born to the late James W. Goff and Germaine (Richard) Goff of Granger, IN. She graduated from Holy Cross School of Nursing and the University of San Diego. Vicki served as a nurse in the U.S. Navy for 30 years. She was in charge of Quality Assurance for Balboa Naval Medical Center San Diego, CA. She retired as Captain in 2001. Vicki is survived by her loving husband, Rod Kastlie; daughter, Stephanie Recker; sister, Geraldine Papp; and brother, James R. Goff. She was preceded in death by her brother, Douglas R. Goff. A Memorial Service will be held July 24 at Ft. Rosecrans National Cemetery, San Diego, CA. The family invites any donations in Vicki's name to Sonata Hospice, 5333 Mission Center Rd. Suite 210, San Diego, CA. 92108.

She and I were great friends stationed at oak knoll naval hospital. We went on a road trip one day and ran out of gas with no where to stay. A local in the area got us a cabin and some gas. We were thrilled with the bathtub as all we had in the BOQ was a shower. I ran into her again as I was processing out of the navy at treasure island in 1994

Vicky and I were friends at Oak knoll NH. We went on a drive to Yosemite and found no lodging available and while looking ran out of gas. Somehow we found out about a man who had a gas pump in front of his cottage and also knew someone with a room we could have over night. Having a life in the BOQ was nice but no tubs. This had an old time 4legged tub. We took turns doing hour long hot soaks. We saw a coyote on the way home and I bought an old mantle clock at a yard sale. I recently gave that to my 42 year old niece. Vicki and I reunited in 1994. My husband died with Alzheimer's January 2018. Lynn Cobb Tate

I just learned of Vicki's passing and am so stunned and sad. She and I were stationed together at Balboa and I absolutely loved her grace, intelligence, sense of humor and style. My thoughts and prayers are with Rod, Stephanie and the rest of Vicki's family.

I graduated with Vicki from Holy Cross School Of Nursing and am so sorry to hear of her death. She had a natural art of caring for her patients and had a wonderful sense of humor. If I close my eyes I can see and hear her coming down the hallway in Anderson, Indiana. Fond memories. My prayers are for her family.

I was saddened to learn of your loss. I met Vicki many years ago through your brother, Doug, and still remember the good laughs and good times that we shared. I often wondered about her and had hoped that I might see both she and Doug again someday. While that is no longer possible she will always be remembered in my thoughts and my prayers.

I have lost two of my great Goff friends. Best friend was Doug (DR) Goff. And now Vickie.
God Bless both of them.
We all went to St. Joseph HS in South Bend. I joined the Marine Corps, was sent to Vietnam where Doug and met up unexpectedly. Right after that I was wounded and medivac to the states. Ensign Goff was one of my nurses in the Naval Hospital. Then 20+ years later, Vickie took care of my son when he was stationed at the NS Alamedia, CA. Eddie met Capt. Goff when she was piped aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln. Afterwards he was impressed with Vickie's poise and down to earth being. I also told him that she has changed his diaper more than once.
Vickie, you will be missed.

I was very sad to hear of Vicki's death. I too, graduated from Holy Cross School of Nursing in 1972 and have fond memories of Vicki as a student nurse. She was kind and caring with her patients and her career allowed her to continue touching others' lives. Family and friends should feel consoled by the fact that she was so accomplished and dedicated to her profession. I am sorry that our paths never crossed since we graduated but we were all on a mission to be the best nurses that Holy Cross produced as we scattered to other states to work. My sympathy with the family, and know that Vicki was loved and appreciated by those whose lives she touched.
