HEWETT, W.Va. — Edward Estel Tackett, 61, of Hewett, went home to be with the Lord peacefully with a smile on his face and his family by his side Tuesday, September 3, 2013, at Thomas Memorial Hospital.
Born August 6, 1952, in Madison, he was a son of Pauline Tackett of Hewett and the late Leonard Tackett. Also preceding him in death was one brother, Freddie Joe Tackett.
Edward was a devoted Christian and attended Spencer United Methodist Church. He had a very good heart and was a very good man. He loved going to church, reading the Bible, and spreading the word of God. He enjoyed family gatherings and spending time with his two very precious granddaughters who he cherished. Edward was employed by Westmoreland Coal and Long Branch Energy as an underground coal miner. He also was a bus driver for Boone County Schools, coal truck driver, and drove for Cardinal Freight
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife and high school sweetheart of 43 years, Kathy; two loving daughters, Cindy (C.T.) Ball of Hewett and Heather (Brian) Adkins of Chapmanville; two very precious granddaughters whom he loved very much, Candice Whitney and Demi Raye Adkins, both of Chapmanville; four brothers, Randall (Leah) Tackett of Grandy, N.C., Tom (Brenda) Tackett of Hewett, Wayne (Mary) Tackett of Camp Creek, and Jerry (Loretta) Tackett of Danville, and many other family and friends
Edward will forever be loved and missed by his family; but he left a lot of good memories to cherish.
Services will be held at noon Sunday, September 8, at Freeman Funeral Home with Rev. Roger McCauley and Rev. Nathan Craddock officiating. Burial will follow at Danville Memorial Park at Danville.
Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
Freeman Funeral Home of Chapmanville is in charge of arrangements.

Honey, I Love You and Miss you so much.
There are so many times that I just turn to tell you something or to just mention something that has came to my mind. Then I realize you are not here to tell my thoughts to anymore. After being with you for 43 years, it is so hard for me to not turn in your direction to talk to you. We were always there for each other.I could not have asked for a better husband.I had always prayed as I grew up that God would send me a good man for a husband. One that would always be good to me and treat me good,God answered that prayer when he placed you in my life.I know you are in Heaven and rejoicing. You worked hard for our Savior while you were here on earth and now you are getting your rewards. You have just went ahead of us. We will join you in Heaven someday and recieve our rewards. But for now our hearts are broken. We miss you so much and always will. HONEY,I WILL ALWAYS LOVE YOU AND MISS YOU.
Your wife, Kathy

Dad, you have been gone 1 month now. How I so wish you were still with us. Life is not or will ever be the same without you. I miss seeing you every day when I would come home from work, and on the weekends when I would come up & visit. I don't think the hurt or the sadness will ever go away. You mean so much to us. I know your in heaven, much better place than here. And I know your happy. It still does not seem real, it feels like a nightmare, that I wish someone would wake me up from. I look at your picture every morning and evening & tell you I love you. I tell mom every night when we get ready to hang up that I love her and to tell you the same, just like I did when you were still here with us. Sometimes, I feel like going outside and scream, why. why did you have to go so soon. I just think, God needed you more than we did. I think about that song by Vince Gill, Go Rest High on that Mountain, your work here on earth is done. But it still does not make it easy, we miss you so much. This evening around 8:45 p.m. 10 minutes from the time you left us and entered Heaven. I was thinking and told C.T. I wonder what dad was seeing the last 5-10 minutes he was here with us, did an angel come down & say, come with me, did you see Heaven right before you took your last breath, is that what you were saying those last few seconds, How beautiful it is, or were you saying, I love you. Mom & I have often wonder what those last words were you whispered, when we could not make out what you said. Was Jesus there to take you by the hand, or like Misty, he showed up on a bus to take her home. I will always wonder what your last few minutes was like, what did you see. I am so thankful that I was there with you, and told you to go on, everything would be ok, don't worry about mom, we will take care of her & that mom, Heather, Candice , Demi and I love you. I will keep my promise dad, don't worry, we will be sure mom will be ok. You will always be in our hearts and our thoughts. Just keep dancing in the sky dad, singing in the angels choir, and I know heaven got a little sweeter when you arrived. I love you always and you will always be missed. With lots of Love to the Greatest Dad ever, tell God he did good when he gave you as my Dad, I could not have asked for a better dad or mom. With all our Love here on earth to you in Heaven dad. I was proud to me your daughter.
Love and missed always,
Cindy

Honey, It has been 1 month today that you went to Heaven. I miss you so very much. It is not the same here without you. I have cried so many tears since you have left us. I know it was your time to go to Heaven, but that doesn't make it easy. You served our savior while you were here on earth and now you have your reward. You have entered into the Heavenly Gates and have met our Savior. He was there with open arms to welcome you in. I know you are happy in Heaven. But I sure do miss you here on earth and my heart is broken. Honey, I will see you in Heaven someday. I Will Always Love You, Always. You Wife, Kathy

Dad, I miss you so much. Life just isn't the same. I wish I could see you again to tell you how much I love you and to tell you bye. I know your in a better place, and I am happy for you. We are sad here, but we know we will see you again some day. You just went so quickly, so unexpected, no getting prepared, like mom said, would we ever be prepared to say goodbye, no, I just wish you were back with us. It has been 4 weeks, 2 hours and 10 minutes that you left us and went to heaven. Sometimes it feels longer, sometimes it does not feel that long ago. But to know we will never get to hear your voice your see your face here, makes us sad, we know someday when we get to heaven we will see you. But it will hurt until the day we make it to heaven. You were the best dad ever, again, God did good work when he made you as my dad. You will never be forgotten, you will always be loved and missed. I think often, just what are you doing in heaven right at that very second, are you talking to Jesus, are you laughing, are you singing in the angels choir, are you dancing in the sky. I know you have a big smile on your face, and you feel good, no more sickness, no more hurting, no more sadness. Just keep dancing in the sky dad. Love you always dad, your daughter, Cindy.
