RUDOLPH STEPP
SIDNEY, Ky. — Rudolph Ireland Stepp, 94, of Sidney, Ky., departed this life Tues., July 14, 2015.
Born Sept. 1, 1920, at Heisey, Ky., he was a son of the late Ireland and Annie Kennedy Stepp. He was also preceded in death by two sisters: Thelma and Ethel Mae; six brothers: Mont, Charles, Irvin, David, Jonah and Oscar; one half-sister, Sophie; three half-brothers: Arlie, Carlie and Ira, and a great-granddaughter, Alexa Deskins. Surviving is one sister, Doris Green of Sidney.
Rudolph was a retired foreman from the Pike County Board of Education transportation department. He was the oldest living member and trustee emeritus of the Mt. Zion Freewill Baptist Church at Sidney.
Survivors include his wife of 74 years, Ann Gugelchuk Stepp; three children, Geraldine (William) Akers of Sidney, Patsy (Don) Gibson of Hatfield, Ky., and Jerry Stepp, also of Sidney; five grandchildren: Melissa (John) Marcum of Sidney, Greg (Lisa) Gibson of Ivel, Ky., Suzanne (James) Byrd of Pineville, W.Va., William Rudolph (Gina) Akers of Irvine, Ky., and Vera Deskins of Williamson, W.Va.; seven great-grandchildren: Christian Tyler Marcum, Cailee Marcum, Shaina Deskins, and Anna Deskins, all of Sidney, Alexis Gibson and Jacob Gibson of Ivel, and Addison Akers of Irvine.
Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. Wed., July 15th, at R.E. Rogers Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thurs., July 16th, at R.E. Rogers Funeral Home. The Reverend William E. Akers will officiate. Interment will follow at Mountain View Memory Gardens at Huddy, Ky.
The pallbearers will consist of Greg Gibson, Don Gibson, Rudy Akers, John Marcum, Christian Tyler Marcum and James Bryrd.
The honorary pallbearers will include Paul Gene Williamson, Fonso Bogar, Jerry Stepp, Ricky Skeens, Frank Gugelchuk, Shann Stepp, Rick Green, Claude Smith, Clarence Smith and his brothers and sisters in Christ at Mt. Zion Freewill Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the building fund of Mt. Zion Freewill Baptist Church in memory of Rudolph. These can be placed in care of the church by mailing to PO Box 236, Sidney, Ky. 41564.
