Jay W. Gaston passed away peacefully on Aug. 12, 2024. He was born on July 13, 1941, to Odell and Rena (Krogel) Gaston in Kalamazoo. He was united in marriage to Patricia Gaston in Charleston, S.C, on Oct. 11, 1992.
Jay is survived by his wife of 32 years, Patricia; daughters: Lori (Eric) Campbell, Tracy (Tim) Keeler, Dante (Kevin) Connell, Shea (Marc Isserles) Dean; and son Chad Gaston. He is also survived by grandchildren: Maigan (Brian) Baird, Jessica Campbell, Bailey Campbell, Erin (Matthew) Culver, Katharine Connell, William Connell, Sarah Connell, Oona Isserles and Audrey Isserles; eight great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Ladell Hackenberg, and grandson Justin Keeler.
Jay worked in the construction industry in Kalamazoo for many years. He greatly loved his extended family. Once owning a small farm, he had a deep appreciation for the fields, the crops and the natural world. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, golf, bowling, woodworking and living by Lake Michigan.
