Paul W. Campbell, 90, passed away on Sunday June 2, 2024, in Traverse City. He was born on Dec. 26, 1933 at Beaumont Hospital in Detroit to Carlton Paul Campbell and Marjorie Cordingly Martin Campbell. and united in marriage to Carole Jean Evans on June 16, 1962 in Casco Township.
Paul is survived by sons Jack (Amy) Campbell of Mulliken, and William (Sandra) Campbell of Lansing; grandchildren, Travis, Brooke, Joseph and Alexandria.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and wife of 59 years, Carole Jean Campbell, brothers, David Q. Campbell and Martin Wade Campbell.
Paul grew up in Wyandotte, spent summers in Lewiston with maternal grandparents in a log cabin in the 1940s. Paul attended school at Roosevelt High School in Detroit and also in Lewiston. He was the president of the thespian club and was in theater productions at Roosevelt High.
Paul graduated from Michigan State University in 1969 with a bachelor science (with honors) degree and taught social studies for 26 yeas at Dwight Rich and Sexton High School. During his career, Paul and Carole lived in Grand Ledge where he and wife Carole raised their two sons.
Paul loved camping in the summer with the family at the Two Hearted Campground where he was often a camp host over 20 years. Paul made a lot of special friends and he loved agate hunting along the shores of Lake Superior. He also loved to travel and made many trips around the USA and Canada. Paul had a good sense of humor.
Visitation for Paul will be on Monday, June 10, 2024, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 10:30 a.m. at Filbrandt Chapel, 1076 S. Bailey Ave. South Haven, Michigan 49090. Pastor Michael Tupper will officiate. Paul will be laid to rest at McDowell Cemetery.
