Carlton Torrey Obituary

Carlton P. Torrey Jr., 83, of Halifax passed away Monday, Jan. 23, surrounded by his family at the Bay Path Nursing & Rehab. Center in Duxbury. He was the beloved husband of Carole A. (Hill) Torrey. Carl was born in Brockton and brought up in Duxbury, son of the late Carlton and Ethel (Howe) Torrey. He was a graduate of Duxbury High School, Class of 1947. Carl served his country in the U.S.Navy from 1947-1950. He worked in the tool and die industry for many years working at Vulplex, Inc., in Abington for 16 years and then at the Stoughton Tool & Die for 18 years. Carl also was an auxiliary police officer in Whitman, Hanson and Kingston. After his retirement, he worked part time for Drummond Transportation. He enjoyed bowling and wood burning and spending time with his loving family. In addition to his wife Carole, he is survived by his children, Donald Torrey of South Easton, Steven Torrey of Whitman, Cheryle Connolly, Linda Torrey, Patricia Fanning, all of Halifax, and David Torrey of Abington. He was the grandfather of 12 and great-grandfather of 14. He was also the brother of Pauline Gosselin, George Torrey and Lorraine Torrey and the late Arlene Wilbur, Gerald, Ronald, Leonard, Roger Torrey and Shirley Doyle. His services will be held Wednesday, Jan. 25, at 7 p.m. in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel (Rte. 58 at the rotary), Whitman. Visitation will be prior to the service, from 4-7 p.m. Burial will be at a later date. Donations may be made in his name to the St. Judes , 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
