Ellen E. McCarthy

Ellen E. (Stanford) McCarthy age 79, of Plymouth died unexpectedly on Sunday July 4, 2021 at the Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital-Plymouth. She was reunited with Gerald 'Jerry' her husband of 40 years and the love of her life. Ellen was born in Brockton and raised in Mansfield a daughter of the late Walter and Virginia (Noonan) Stanford. She moved to Brockton when she married Jerry and retired to Plymouth with him in 2003. A graduate of Mansfield High School, Ellen had worked at Raytheon Industries for over thirty years. Ellen enjoyed sewing, reading and spending time with her family. Ellen was known as Nana and was instrumental in her grandson Ryan's early years; she greatly enjoyed watching him play sports as a child and in high school. She had also just become a great grandmother to Ryans son Levi. Ellen was a strong woman who overcame many health challenges. She had a great sense of humor and was always caring about others. Ellen is survived by her son Daniel J. McCarthy, co-owner of Whitey & Mac's Landscaping, and his wife Debra of South Easton and her grandson Ryan McCarthy and his wife Erin of South Easton and their son Levi. She was the sister of Maryann MacInnis and her husband Walter Mac of Bradenton, FL and the late Water Leo Stanford and William Stanford. She also leaves several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held in the Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont Street (rte. 123) Brockton on Saturday July 10, 2021 from 2-5pm concluding with a funeral service. Private burial in the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
