He was most recently employed at Proprietors Green in Marshfield and was previously the owner of the Windjammer Restaurant in Buzzards Bay. In earlier years he was a chef at Boca, Caf Christina, and Cataldi's restaurants. Joseph enjoyed hunting, caring for his tropical fish tanks, and spending time with his grandkids. He was an avid sports fan, and especially loved watching the New England Patriots. Besides leaving his beloved wife of 46 years, Barbara, he was the loving father of Jason and his wife Erin Haglund of Middleboro, and Cyndi Poore and her husband Jim of Sagamore, Mass. He was the beloved brother of Dr. Robert Haglund of Naples, Fla. and cherished grandfather of Benjamin Poore, Killian, Brishan, and Lennon Haglund. Barbara, I am so sorry to hear about Joe. I will miss him so much. He always made us laugh in the kitchen. Every night at pre-meal he would tell the kids a story about what he did or about you and the grandchildren. His eyes would light up when he talked about his family. The kids all loved his stories too. I have very fond memories of Joe, one of which was the Christmas parties. He would always get so excited about being able to dance with you. I loved watching the two of you dance. He will live in our hearts forever. Love, Gail Spinney from VPJ

Miss you Uncle Joe...I will forever remember you standing at the top of your deck stairs at those summer parties - arms spread wide, shirt wide open, and announcing to everyone in the yard, "Heeeeey!!! So who wants to see some fireworks?!" You were the pink eyeglassed, earing-wearing, fun-loving, Elton-singing, culinary-gifted, uncle who all of us kids wanted to be around. May you rest in peace and save a place at the table for those of us you've left behind. PS - I'll bring the fireworks next time! ???? ???? ????

Barbara, many memories of Joe from as far back as teaching with him in Quincy in 1975. He was extremely friendly and helpful to me both there and at the Village. My staff and I will miss him very much. I am sure you will be hearing what you already know, Joe lived for you and his family. He would be so animated when speaking of all of you. May he rest in peace. Tom Jablonski

Dear Barbara and family, I couldn't have been more shocked of this news, as Joe was so full of life. I never met any of you but your life came through Joe each time he spoke about all of you, and that was often. Joe being the cook at VPG where he worked closely with the chef to do all he could to make residents happy with the food they cooked. I never could understand why the pink glasses except to think about how he wanted to see the world? And that he did. He touched all that he worked with and that translated into a kind and hardworking man. He was so full of love for his family that I can only imagine the loss you must all be feeling. Joe left us too early, I am sorry for your loss. Sending you healing wishes from just-a-co-worker of Joe's. Doreen Lang

Dear Barbara and Family, Joe was a very special person, and a much beloved member of our VPG Team. He was always fun to be around, with a quick smile and a twinkle in his eye when he spoke of his family. Barbara, he was at his finest when he was dancing with you at our holiday parties. What an inspiration the two of you have been to our entire team, how very much in love you were with each other! He will always be your dance partner in your heart, thank you for sharing him with us.

So very sorry to hear of Mr. Haglund's passing. Back when I worked for Plymouth Home National Bank here in Manomet, I remember he'd always come in with a great big smile and add a "ray of sunshine" to a gloomy day. He and Mrs. Haglund were two of my favorite customers. My thoughts and prayers are with his family during this very difficult time. Sincerely, Maryellen (Cappella) Ward
