Lorraine Macuch Obituary

Lorraine E. Macuch, 89, formerly of Easton and Buzzards Bay, beloved wife of the late Joseph I. Macuch, passed away Jan. 22, at Golden Oak Nursing Center in Middleboro, after a long illness. She was born in Brockton, July 15, 1924, to the late Dona and Helen (Beaudette) LaCouture. Her brothers Edgar, Dona Jr., Bernard and Ronald LaCouture predeceased her. After graduating from Brockton High School in 1942, Lorraine enlisted in the W.A.V.E.S. and served in New York City during World War II. She loved life in the city and made many friends. Lorraine and Joseph were married April 6, 1947, and settled in Easton. She was employed as head cashier at Kings Department Store for over 10 years. When her children were grown she worked at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Brockton. Lorraine and Joseph were two of the founding members of Holy Cross Roman Catholic Church in So. Easton. She retired in 1993 and then spent most of her time with Joseph at their summer home in Buzzards Bay. Lorraines greatest joy in life was having her children and grandchildren around her. She was the loving mother to Barbara Johnston of Buzzards Bay, Ronald Macuch of Monument Beach, Michael Macuch of Carver, Deborah Green of Scituate, Joseph Macuch of Duxbury, Paul Macuch of Lakeville and Patrick Macuch of Bourne. She was predeceased by her son Stephen Macuch. She was the loving grandmother to 17 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. I remember your mother well from her days at Kings where she worked with my mother Peggy Waterman. And also gatherings at your large Easton yard. Good memories.
