Michael Schorr Obituary

Dr. Michael David Schorr, of Lakeville, beloved father, brother, uncle and friend, passed away suddenly Sunday, July 12, 2020. He was 58 years old. Michael was born in Bloomfield, New Jersey, to Irwin and Annemarie Schorr. Mike grew up in Maryland and completed his undergraduate studies at University of Maine Orono. His sisters have shared, that since childhood, Mikes only ambition was to be a physician. He went on to fulfill this goal and obtained his medical degree from the University of New England, College of Osteopathic Medicine. For the last decade, he practiced under Stewart Medical Healthcare and Good Samaritan Hospital in Brockton. He was a devoted physician with tremendous skill, who was truly dedicated to his patients care. He was admired by his colleagues and was unwavering in his recent commitment to assisting in any fashion, throughout the hardships of COVID. He selflessly picked up extra shifts and spent hours of time coordinating patient care with distant family members, all while consistently checking in with exhausted colleagues. As devoted as Michael was to his medical calling, his proudest endeavor was his two sons. They spent numerous hours fishing, woodworking, skiing and boating, which were a few favorite family pastimes. In addition, Mike and his boys loved to travel to Camp Skoglund, Maine, for their annual trip to Lake Echo on vacation. He was tremendously proud of his sons and was truly the happiest when spending time together with them. Those who knew him, easily saw that one of his greatest attributes, was his capacity to co-parent and maintain an unbroken friendship with his former wife, Shannon List. Mike is survived by his two sons, Harrison and Bennett, along with their mother of West Barnstable, in addition to their grandparents George and Barbara List of New Seabury; his sisters, Ingrid Schorr of Cambridge, Kristina Shaughnessy and her husband John, of Haddon Township New Jersey; his five nieces and three nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Irwin and Annemarie. Visiting hours will be held from 1-4 p.m. on Sunday, July 19, at the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 74 Algonquin Ave., Mashpee. A funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 20, at Christ the King Parish, 5 Job's Fishing Road, Mashpee.
