Robert Asker Obituary

Wareham Robert E. Asker, 81, of Wareham and Florida, died Friday, July 11, at the Tobey Hospital in Wareham, after a long illness. He was the beloved husband of Elin (Johnson) Asker; son of the late Elvera and Elliot Asker; brother of the late Donald Asker and his wife Elizabeth, Marjorie Heyl and her husband Ernest, Lorraine Foster and her husband the late Kenneth Foster, Stanley Asker and his wife Maureen; loving stepfather of Daniel M. Murphy and his wife Beverly, Linda Dussault and her husband Edward, the late David S. Murphy; grandfather of Krista Woitkiewicz and her husband Mark, Daniel J. Murphy and his fiance Kate Cordeiro; great-grandfather of Elin Marie Woitkiewicz. Mr. Asker was a career Navy man and served for 23 years, including service during World War II, Korea and Vietnam. He retired at the rank of Chief Boatswains Mate. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, a 50 year member of the Vega Social Club in Brockton, a member of the Wareham Lodge of Elks No. 1548 and a member of the NRA. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, July 17, at the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 2599 Cranberry Highway (Rte. 28), Wareham, at 11 a.m. Interment in the Mass. Chief Asker,
Sir, I would just like to say thank you for your years of dedicated service and sacrifice for our Country when you served in the USN-especially during WW II, the Korean and Vietnam Wars. And to your family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.
