William J. Pohl

1928 - 2017

William J. Pohl, 88, a resident of Raynham for the past 55 years, died Monday, May 8, 2017 at Marion Manor of Taunton after a period of failing health. He was the husband of Lorraine S. (Godsoe) Pohl for 66 years. Born in Boston, a son of the late William J. and Norah A. (Geraughty) Pohl, he was raised in South Boston and was a graduate of South Boston High School. A veteran of WWII he served as a Private First Class in the US Army. Upon honorable discharge he began his working career with Brockton Oil & Heat as well as the Ames Shovel Shop. After, he took a position with the Foxboro Company as an assembler and welder in the electronics industry, a position he held for 32 years. William enjoyed playing the guitar, the banjo and other assorted musical instruments and his hobby included working on cars. In addition to his wife Lorraine, he is survived by three children, Nora M. Thorley and her husband Kevin of Lakeville, Robert E. Pohl and his wife Debra of Raynham, and Cynthia J. Campbell and her husband Scott of Raynham; 8 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Mary Sparrow, Madeline Cassford, George Pohl, Marjorie Michaels, Edward Pohl, Robert Pohl, and Joan Pohl. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral on Friday at 10 a.m. in Kane Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 605 Washington Street (Rte.138) Easton. Interment with military honors will follow in Pleasant Street Cemetery, Raynham.
