Bruce Peters Obituary

Bruce Lee Peters, 73, of Mashpee, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on June 16, 2021. He was the beloved husband of Nancy J. (Converse) Peters. Bruce was born on June 5, 1948, in Boston, MA to the late George W., and Muriel (Nay) Peters. Known as the 'Pied-Piper of Animals', his love was ever present in every dog and cat he met that adored him. His ability to identify wildlife has helped to place him as one of the first to identify the Hairy Woodpecker on Cape Cod. This passion also extended to rebuilding the family '72 pontoon boat, tinkering, cooking, and being a Papa. Bruce wore many hats and held various careers including the Dedham Water Department and Hoffman Race Chassis before finding his niche for cooking in restaurants including Bailey's Surf & Turf and the Frigate Steak House, where he met his wife, Nancy, of 35 years. Nancy and Bruce raised their family in Mashpee where he was greatly involved as a father and as a neighbor. He was a member of the Briarwood Association in Mashpee for many years and was a staple in the neighborhood. More than anything, Bruce loved spending time with his family and friends and will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. In addition to his wife, Nancy, Bruce is survived by his children, Allison (Peters) Moscariello, and her husband Joe, of Rehoboth, David Peters, and his wife Laura, of Pembroke, Kenny Peters, of Mashpee, and Laurel Peters, of Mashpee; his brothers, David W. Peters, of Dennis, and Kenneth G. Peters, of Marietta, GA; his beloved grandchildren Isabel, Raylee, Lucas, and Baby Peters; as well as many nieces, nephews, and other extended family members. Bruce was preceded in death by his parents, George W., and Muriel (Nay) Peters, as well as his brother, Alan R. Peters. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, July 15, 2021, at 1:45 p.m. at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, in Bourne. All are welcome. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cape Cod Veterinary Specialists or People for Cats. For online guestbook, information, directions please visit www.chapmanfuneral.com.
