Charles Mullaney Obituary

Charles I. Mullaney, Jr., age 88, of Braintree, formerly of Falmouth, died at the Sunrise of Braintree, Thursday, Nov. 17, 2011, surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Mullaney was born, raised, and educated in Quincy. He graduated from Quincy High School, Class of 1941 and from the University of Maryland. Mr. Mullaney had lived in Braintree for the last year, previously living in Falmouth for twenty-five years, and earlier living in Braintree for twenty-five years. He worked for the Raytheon Company in Andover for forty years as an Engineer and Vice-President in the Missile System Division. He retired many years ago. Mr. Mullaney served in the United States Army in Company 1, 291st Infantry Regiment, 75th Infantry Division during World War II. He participated in the campaigns of the Rhineland, Ardennes, Central Europe, including the Battle of the Bulge and was the recipient of two Bronze Star Medals. He enjoyed travelling and spending time with his family. He especially treasured his summers on Cape Cod with his children and grandchildren. Beloved husband for sixty-five years of Julia E. (Sacchetti) Mullaney. Devoted father of Susan E. Muir and her husband Robert of East Bridgewater, Charles A. Mullaney and his wife Lorna of Sandwich, and Elizabeth J. Page and her husband Kevin of Braintree. Loving grandfather of Alexander and Anthony Muir, Michelle Coughlin, Sarah Mullaney, and Charles J. Mullaney, and Kevin, Michael, Brian, and Alison Page. Loving great-grandfather of Tyler, Noah, Benjamin, and Fiona. Brother of Eleanor Walsh of Tulsa, OK, Kenneth Mullaney of Plymouth, Stanley Mullaney of Durham, NH, the late Irene Sayre, the late Raymond Mullaney D.M.D., the late Richard Mullaney, and the late Gerald Mullaney. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Funeral from the Sweeney Brothers Home for Funerals, 1 Independence Avenue, Quincy, Monday, Nov. 21 at 9:30 a.m. Funeral Mass in Saint Francis of Assisi Church, 856 Washington St., Braintree at 10:30 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours Sunday 2 | 6 p.m. Interment Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree. For those who wish, donations in Mr. Mullaneys memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 311 Arsenal Street, Watertown, MA 02472. Chuck, I just heard of your Dad's passing today. Can't tell you how sorry I am that I could not attend attend and pay my condolences in person. Your Dad was a great man and so many of us learned and benefited from him. Just want you and your family to know that it was my honor to be associated with him. I'm sure he is in a special and peacefull place and as always keeping an eye out for everyone.
