Claire Barry Obituary

Claire M. (Mullarkey) Barry, R.N., age 84, of Quincy, died at home, Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2011. Claire was born and raised in Quincy and was a lifelong Quincy resident. She was a member of the first graduating class of Saint Marys Elementary School in West Quincy and a graduate of Quincy High School, Class of 1945. She was also a graduate of the former Quincy City Hospital School of Nursing, Class of 1948. Claire was a registered nurse and was employed for over 30 years at the former Quincy City Hospital. She has been retired many years. She was a former member of the Board of Directors at the Quincy Credit Union. Claire was a lifelong active member of Saint Marys Parish in West Quincy and had volunteered in the library at the former Saint Marys Elementary School. She was an avid reader and was devoted to her family. Beloved wife of the late Russell J. Barry, Deputy Chief, Q.F.D., retired, she was the devoted mother of Russell J. Barry Jr. of Alfred, Maine, Donna M. Morrill of Carver and the late Patricia M. Tobin; cherished grandmother of Matthew Sloat, Jessica Barry, Kimberly Skellett, Christopher Morrill; and loving great-grandmother of Hanna; sister of Helen Reynolds of Buzzards Bay. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Funeral from the Sweeney Brothers Home for Funerals, 1 Independence Ave., Quincy, Saturday, Dec. 31, at 9 a.m. Funeral Mass in Saint Marys Church, 95 Crescent St., West Quincy, at 10 Oclock. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours Friday, 3-7 p.m. Interment Mount Wollaston Cemetery, Quincy. You were a great nurse at Quincy City Hospital for all those years. I enjoyed working with you,your smile and kind words. You kept in touch with me, never missing sending me a birthday card. We both enjoyed eachother for alot of years,I will miss
