James Hines Obituary

James "Jim" R. Hines of Quincy passed away peacefully on February 9, 2021. Jim was born to Rose Hines and the late George Dewey Hines of So. Boston. Jim enjoyed many aspects of life including his family, friends, successful plumbing business, but his greatest joy in life was his fatherhood. The bond between Jim and his children was irreplaceable; Dad to Jennifer Federico and her husband James of Braintree, and his incredible son, Craig Hines and his girlfriend Cara Stella of Quincy. This last year he became Grandpa to his ray of sunshine, Benny Federico. His children and grandson will carry his legacy with honor. Jim cherished and enjoyed his last couple years with his newlywed, Loretta. As a brother, he is survived by siblings Margie Hennesey, George, Paul, Stephen Hines, and the late Michael Hines and Annmarie Andrews. "Uncle Jim" hugs and special love will be missed by all his nieces and nephews. After years of Hines' Plumbing and Heating, Jim joined the City of Quincy where he made lifelong friendships. Jim touched so many lives and always made an impact through his enthusiasm and ability to make relationships so special. Words do not describe the loss to family and friends to one of the best men. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Daughters of Mary of Nazareth, P.O. Box 690789, Quincy, MA 02169 in honor of Mother Olga, who was a guide to eternal rest in faith and support of his family. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the Mass of Christian burial Friday at 10 a.m. in the Sacred Heart Church, Quincy. Due to the current health conditions, visiting hours will be private.

Sadly, another Quincy legend now belongs to the ages, was taken too soon RIP Jim, as you truly were one of SQ's finest, & one of its most beloved residents. You always had the most endearing & uplifting smile, while you were as genuine & compassionate as they come. The first time that I really got to know you, probably 10 years back, I was struck by your sincere kindness, authenticity, generosity, deep sensitivity to people, past family history & by your fascinating life experiences (you really made something out of it, found much success via hard work, good business acumen & honesty!). Not a mean or fake bone in your body, just an all round Great Guy & Wonderful Joy to converse with. Squantum & Quincy lost a fine, very dependable representative, along with a much admired leader, this modern day, German-Irish Knight of chivalrous honor, true nobility & heartfelt devotion to his family (your dedication to your children was amazingly & beautifully selfless!). You will be very, very missed my man. May the afterlife be all that you dreamed it would be, & may God hold you in the palm of his hand. RIP Jim, & Godspeed

Jenny and Craig,

So sorry to hear of the loss of your dad. We were '76 classmates at NQHS.

Your dad selflessly volunteered his time to the Squantum Storm for many years, mostly to spend time with Craig. When it was time to pass the torch he came to me with great pride of the Storm's progress during his tenure. I happily obliged and carried on his great passion for the Quincy Youth Football League. I'm sure that you're proud of this legacy that he has left behind.
Respectfully.

Mrs. Hines (Rose), Jennifer, Craig, Loretta and the Hines siblings,

I am so sad and heartbroken to hear of Jimmy's passing. He was a such wonderful man and proud dad. When we would get a chance to catch up with each other he would always talk about Jennifer, Craig and the Hines family. He so loved his children. I will never forget all the great times I had with Jim and the Hines'.

With loving memories,

Dawn
