James OSullivan Obituary

James M. OSullivan, 71, of Canton, died suddenly at Beth Israel Deaconess in Milton on June 13, 2016. Jim was born in Boston, to James and Winifred OSullivan in 1944. He was educated in Boston Catholic schools and served as an alter boy at St. Gregorys Church for many years. He graduated from Cathedral High School with honors in 1962. Jim joined the United States Army in 1963 and served with distinction as a Paratrooper primarily in Germany. While at Jump School he earned several citations and awards. Several years after completing his active duty, Jim joined the U.S. Army Reserves and was activated to serve in Desert Storm. He spent many years working in security at Norfolk State Prison, and was assigned to coordinate the closing of Wrentham State School. In later life he worked part time as the Assistant Animal Control Officer for the Town of Canton. Jim was a quiet man who wanted nothing more in life than his home, his wife, his dog, his wonderful book collection, and his Gold John Wayne DVD collection. He was kind and charming, witty and smart. He was much loved. Predeceased in death by his parents, his brother Paul OSullivan and his sister Kathleen OSullivan, Jim is survived by his wife of 47 years Elaine (Pangraze) OSullivan, his sister Patricia Fuge and her husband Francis of Weymouth, his sister-in-law Marge OSullivan of Rockland, his brother-in-law Joseph Pangraze; his devoted nephew Andrew Pangraze, and his brother-in-law James Chin, all of Holbrook. He is also survived by several cousins and many wonderful nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews. In addition, he leaves his best friend Toby, his loyal canine companion.
