John Masterson Obituary

Carver John Jack H. Masterson, of Carver died Wednesday, May 21, 2008 in Plymouth at the age of 85. He was the husband of Esther Eeta (Cohen) Masterson and the late Esther J. (Sullivan) Masterson who died in 1983. A combat Army veteran of World War II, he was awarded the Purple Heart for injuries sustained during the Battle of the Bulge. During the 1950s and early 60s, he was a Sergeant for the Hollywood Florida Police Department before returning to Massachusetts. Jack was a licensed pilot and avid boater who enjoyed fishing, photography, motorcycles, racecars and collecting guns. He was also a member of the VFW and a retired Teamster Local 25. Besides his wife, he leaves four children, Christopher Masterson and Maureen (Masterson) Lamb of Norfolk, Paul Masterson of Bourne and John G. Masterson of Rochester; 12 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. Visiting hours will be held from 4 to 8 p.m on Wednesday, May 28th in the Nickerson-Bourne Funeral Home, 40 MacArthur Blvd. in Bourne. Funeral services will begin at 10 a..m. on Thursday, May 29th in the funeral home. Burial in the Massachusetts National Cemetery will follow. Mr. Masterson,
Sir, I would just like to say thank you for your years of dedicated service and sacrifice-first for our Country when you served with the U.S. Army in Europe during WW II fighting the Germans and secondly for the citizens of Hollywood when you served with the HPD. And to your family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.
