John H. McClutchy Sr.

John H. Mac McClutchy Sr., 90, of Mansfield, formerly of Chelmsford and Hyde Park, passed away Saturday, May 22, 2010, surrounded by his loving family at the Southeast Rehabilitation & Skilled Care Center in Easton. Born Jan. 2, 1920, in Boston, John was a son of the late Thomas F. and Margaret (Curtin) McClutchy. John was the loving husband of the late Mary A. (Harrington) McClutchy who passed away in 1970. He leaves his seven children, John Jr. and his wife Janet of Connecticut, Thomas F. of Boston, James W. of Newbury, Deborah A. Wosny of Norwood, Mary Tessier and her husband Steven of Middleboro, Elaine M. DeNapoli and her husband Paul of Hyde Park and Joan M. Adorno and her husband Leonardo of Mansfield. John Grampie was the loving grandfather of 24 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his beloved grandson James Tessier. John was the brother of seven, Margaret Potter, Thomas McClutchy and Ann ODonnell and the late James McClutchy, Mary Barbagallo, Dorothy Delorey and Francis Brinkert. Also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends. John was a member of the U.S. Army Air Corp and served proudly in World War II and was honorably discharged in 1945. He was also a retired machinist from the General Electric Company in both Lynn and Everett, where he worked for 33 years. John raised his family in the Hyde Park section of Boston. He also spent many wonderful years living with his dedicated son James and his family in Chelmsford, and more recently with his devoted daughter Joan and her family in Mansfield. John was also married to the late Roberta Frasier of Jamaica Plain. His funeral, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held Wednesday, May 26, at 9 a.m., from the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main St., Mansfield, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, celebrated at 10 a.m., in St. Marys Church, 330 Pratt St. (Rte. 106), Mansfield. Burial with military honors will follow in Brookdale Cemetery, Dedham. Visiting hours will be held Tuesday, May 25, from 4-8 p.m., at the funeral home.
