Mary E. Isbell

CANTON Mary E. Betty Isbell (Gavaza), age 88 of Canton, passed away July 25th at the Eventide Nursing Home in Quincy after a long illness. Born in Beverly, she was raised in Quincy and graduated from Quincy High School Class of 1938. She has lived in Canton for over 50 years. She was formerly a 20 year volunteer for both the Milton Hospital and for the Red Cross for the Canton Blood Bank. She loved the ocean and she was a talented seamstress who enjoyed making gowns for family members. Beloved wife of the late James A. Mother of Betsy Smith of Randolph, Susan C. Briggs of Florida and Jane A. McClellan of Canton. Sister of Helen Grazioso of Quincy. Also survived by 5 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Visiting hours at the Dockray & Thomas Funeral Home, 455 Washington St., Canton, Monday (5-8 pm). Funeral Service at the United Church of Christ, 1541 Washington St., Canton, Tuesday morning at 10. Interment private. Donations may be made in her memory to the Wm B. Rice Eventide Home, 215 Adams St., Quincy, MA 02169.
