Richard Aubuchon Obituary

Richard Arthur Aubuchon, 81, passed away June 17, 2021, after a brief illness, and truly left a life well lived and loved. "We can't take it with us, but we can leave behind a life well lived." Richard Arthur Aubuchon of Hingham, did just that. Dick, Big Daddy, Obie, Mr. A. and Grampy was known to so many. His big personality and even bigger voice will be greatly missed. Dick leaves behind his most beloved children, Michelle Ann Belsan her husband Peter, and Elizabeth Marie Conrad and her husband Adam, all of Scituate. He leaves his grandchildren, who were his pride and joy: Lily Elizabeth Belsan, Matthew Richard Belsan and Vivienne Elizabeth Conrad. He is also survived by his good friend Nancy Boccia, loving sister Kathleen Barry of Fitchburg, and his brother Robert Aubuchon of Atlanta, GA, numerous nieces, and nephews, and a loving extended family. His passion for teaching and education made him an extraordinary educator. Mr. A., as he was known, taught in Hartford, CT, Rockland, Norwell, Hull and Everett, MA. He became the Superintendent of Schools at Lake Region Union High School in Orleans, VT, where he received numerous awards and commendations. It was in this role that Dick was the most proud. He retired to Hingham, to be near his family, in 2002. One of his greatest memories was as a member of the United States Army Reserve and marching in the inaugural parade for John F. Kennedy. His children and grandchildren will dearly miss their Grampy - the wonderful "lunch bunch" dates, his humor and his superior driving lessons. He was the best father, grandfather and friend who was loved by so many. Richard Aubuchon truly leaves a life well lived and will be deeply missed. Family and friends are invited to join together for visiting hours on Tuesday, June 29, 2021 from 5-7 p.m. at Richardson-Gaffey Funeral Home, 382 First Parish Road, Scituate. A funeral Mass will take place on Wednesday, June 30, 2021 at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Church, 1 Kent Street, Scituate. Reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, contributions made in his memory to The Michael J. Fox Foundation https://www.michaeljfox.org/donate would be appreciated.

Somehow I missed the announcement of Dick's death. Dick was a much loved tutor at the Fluency Factory and was the person I went to throughout our friendship. He was thoughtful, imaginative and was my mentor throughout our time of knowing each other. I miss him all the time, as here we are years later and I am quoting his insights to others. So fortunate to have known Dick and learned from him!

Mr.A was a favorite of mine and many of our classmates of '73 Hull High School. Good memories...great teacher and better person. Rest in Peace.

He was my superintendent in OCSU for as long as I knew we had one. His presence was never subtle and I have never forgotten him.

I have only fond memories of working for Mr. Aubuchon. He was a fine leader and he had reason to be proud of his work here in Vermont. He is, and will be remembered with gratitude, for his support and his vision and his fortitude. I am happy to have worked for him. Much love to his family.
