Alice Ridings Obituary
SPARTANBURG, SC-- Alice Ann Purgason Ridings, 78, of Spartanburg, SC, died Monday, November 27, 2017, at St. Luke's Hospital, Columbus, NC. Born December 18, 1938, in Burke County, NC, she was the daughter, along with five brothers, of the late Clyde W. and Ollie B. King Purgason. She was married for 55 years to Sherman Raymond Ridings of the home.
Mrs. Ridings was a member of Clifton Second Baptist Church where she was a former MWU Director, taught Sunday School, was a choir member for over 30 years, and volunteered with Samaritan's Purse. She retired from Winn Dixie Grocery after 30 years of service.
Visitation will be 11:00 AM-12:00 noon Friday, December 1, 2017, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307. A graveside service will follow at 1:00 PM in Sunset Memorial Park, 1955 Cannons Campground Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307, by The Rev. David Chastain.
Memorials may be made to Clifton Second Baptist Church, 5045 Clifton-Glendale Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307.

I will remember Alice as a true friend, store clerk, and Sunday School teacher. My deepest sympathy is extended to Sherman and the other family members. I'm sorry I was not able to attend.

My heartfelt sympathy for family and friends of Miss Alice. She was a wonderful, sweet lady with a smile on her face always. She was a wonderful friend to my mother, Jewell Groce. Now they both can sing like true angels in heaven. May God wrap his loving arms around all during this very difficult time.
