Charles H. Swofford
SPARTANBURG, SC-- Charles H. Swofford, 77, of 483 Barnwell Road, went home to be with his Lord on Thursday, September 20, 2007, at Mary Black Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. Born August 9, 1930, in Spartanburg, SC, he was the son of the late Boyd and Florence Calvert Swofford. He was employed at Beaumont Mills for 35 years and retired from Startex Mills. He was a lifelong member of Mountain View Baptist Church of Cowpens.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Shirley O'Brien Swofford; a son, Ronald C. Swofford of Boiling Springs; two sisters, Wilma Brannon of Chesnee, and Helen Harrison of Spartanburg; two brothers, George Swofford of Cowpens, and Winfred Swofford of Spartanburg; a grandson, Clint Swofford of Chesnee; two granddaughters, Jennifer Swofford of Boiling Springs, and Sherri Ann Bullington of Union; and a great-grandson, Fletcher Bullington of Union. He was predeceased by a son, Mark Swofford.
Graveside services will be held at 3:00 PM Friday, September 21, 2007, at Mountain View Baptist Church Cemetery conducted by the Rev. Steven Griffith and the Rev. Dr. Jimmy Robbins. The family will receive friends following the service at the graveside.
