Daniel Jeter Obituary

Rev. Dr. Daniel Jeter, 75, gained eternal life on Tuesday, February 23rd , 2021. He transitioned peacefully with family by his side. He was an educator, a mentor, and pastor – most recently at Heart of God Faith Ministries at his passing.
He was born in Spartanburg to Samuel and Mamie Rodgers Jeter. He was a 1963 graduate of Carver High School, a Master of Divinity graduate of Erskine Theological Seminary, an Organizational Management graduate of Voorhees College, and a 2010 Doctorate in Ministry graduate of Covington Theological Seminary.
His extensive work career began in his youth; he apprenticed in vocational trades, such as carpentry and masonry. He worked as a Planner for the City of Spartanburg. These experiences led him to teach at McCarthy Teszler School at the Charles Lea Center. He retired from this position, but was invited to work at R.D. Anderson Applied Technology Center - from where he finally retired.
He answered God's call to ministry in the summer of 1978. He has pastored many CME churches in his 40+ year ministerial career: Forest Chapel, New Salem, Brooklyn, Young Laymen, and founded Heart of God Faith Ministries in 2003.
He loved his family, community, and church families. He enjoyed landscaping, philanthropy, and self-improvement. Certification in grief counseling was his current goal; he was reading books on the subject just prior to his illness. He mentored many ministers in the Carolinas from their initial call to advising established ministers. He truly lived out Jesus's greatest commandment: to love God with all of your being and love people as you love yourself.
Left to honor his memory is his bride of 44 years, Wilhelmena Mack Jeter; his children, Kelly and Kyle; sisters Lillie Cruell, Marie Jeter-Stoute, and Edna Westley (Willie); brothers Howard and Hubert Jeter; covenant brother Rev. Roy Mack (Brenda), among family and friends. He was predeceased by his brother, Emanuel.
A public celebration of his life will be held at Heart of God Faith Ministries later this year as public health conditions permit.

God's spirit and love exuded from Daniel. Lisa and I feel honored to have had this incredible servant of God officiate our wedding in addition to all his subsequent wisdom, counsel and presence in our family. Our hearts are broken, but our pain is somewhat assuaged by knowing we now have an incredible guardian angel looking over us all. Our most sincere condolences and love to Nina and the Jeter family. You all remain in our prayers
