Fant Gist Obituary

Fant Gist, Jr.
SOUTH HILL, VA-- Fant Gist, Jr. died Friday, May 14, 2010. A native of Union County, he was the husband of Ruth C. Gist and the son of the late Fant, Sr. and Adelle Glenn Gist.
He attended the public schools of Union County, was a member of St. Paul AME Zion Church of South Hill, and was retired from Pepco in Washington, D.C.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include sons, Roger D. Costin of Charlotte, NC, and Stacy F. Gist of Beltsville, MD; brothers, James Gist of Cleveland, OH, Douglas Gist of Summerville, SC, and Nelson Gist of Memphis, TN; sisters, Ruby Gist of Pacolet, Ruth Shands of Ladson, Roberta Jones of Oxon Hill, MD, and Frances DeLois Gist of Spartanburg; and three grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 20, 2010 at 3 PM at Jerusalem Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The body will be placed in the church at 2:00 PM.
The family will receive friends at the home of his sisters, Ruby Gist, 390 Dogwood Circle, Pacolet, and DeLois Gist, 759 Nahant Street, Spartanburg.
