Johnnie M. Ownbey
BOILING SPRINGS, SC- Johnnie M. Ownbey, 80, of Boiling Springs, SC, died Monday, August 11, 2014, at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. Born January 16, 1934, in Wilson, OK, she was the daughter of the late John Steven and Zora Bell Edington Miller.
Mrs. Ownbey was a charter member of New Beginnings United Methodist Church where she served as church historian.
Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Frank M. Ownbey; children, Gary Ownbey (Vanessa), Debra Ownbey Crocker (Ken), Marian Ownbey King (Calvin), Tracy Ownbey (Terri), Martin Ownbey (Janice); grandchildren, Jarrod Ownbey (Stacy), Jennifer Ownbey McGee, Jordon Ownbey, Stacey Crocker Rafalowski (Joe), Ashley Crocker, Chris King (Cayce), Jessica King Thalassenos (Nate), Fallon Ownbey, Chory Ownbey, Daun Williams (Bobbie), Taylor Wilbanks (Blare), Logan Ownbey (Kayla), Austin Ownbey, great grandchildren, Ethan McGee, Morgan Hinkleman, Madison Ownbey, McKenna Ownbey, Vivianne Rose Rafalowski, Hunter Brown, Hayley Brown, Henslie King, Phoenix Thalassenos, Karsyn Thalassenos, Ella Williams, Asher Wilbanks, Aiden Wilbanks, Lawson Wilbanks, Dustin Seigler and Kaydence Ownbey; brother, Mickey LaRue Miller (Norma); sister, Mary Miller Vineyard and in-laws, Clara Harris, Charlene Ownbey, David Ownbey (Cathy) and Joe Ownbey (Judy). She was predeceased by a granddaughter, Taylor Ownbey; great grandchild, Sawyer McGee; siblings, Emmett Miller, Billy Miller, and Kenneth Miller and brother-in-laws, Herbert Ownbey and Porter Harris.
Visitation will be held from 1:00-2:45 PM on Friday, August 15, 2014, at New Beginnings United Methodist Church, 210 Rainbow Lake Rd., Boiling Springs, SC 29316, with services following at 3:00 PM in the small sanctuary conducted by Rev. Terry Fleming, Rev. Ken Owens, and Rev. Dr. James Ivey.
Burial will be in Boiling Springs Memorial Gardens, 4081 Hwy 9 North, Boiling Springs, SC 29316.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to New Beginnings United Methodist Church, 210 Rainbow Lake Rd., Boiling Springs, SC 29316.
