Joseph Poteat Obituary
SPARTANBURG, SC-- Joseph C. "Joe" Poteat, Jr., 75, of Spartanburg went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 2, 2013, at Regional Hospice Home. He was the husband of Edith Wines Poteat.
Mr. Poteat was a native of Spartanburg and a son of the late Joseph Clyde and Mildred Blalock Poteat, Sr. He was a retired truck driver, a former employee of McLean Trucking Company and a member of Teamsters Local Union #28. He was a member of Valley Falls First Baptist Church.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Cindy (Bruce) Wines of Canton, NC, Marie Poteat of Spartanburg, Penny Parker of Chesnee and Ellen (Bruce) Hammett of Lyman; a brother, Wayne Poteat of Chesnee; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 4, 2013, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Eggers Funeral Home of Boiling Springs. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, April 5, 2013, at Eggers Funeral Chapel officiated by Rev. Phil Welchel and Rev. John Lancaster. Interment will be in Good Shepherd Memorial Park.
The family will be at the home.
