Verlin, Karen, Joyce & Lem: Please accept our sincere condolences. We were out of town and did not find out about Tommy until after we returned home. Rodney and I both feel absolutely horrible about it as we loved, admired and respected him so much. If we had known, we would have come home so that we could be with the family. Tommy was loved by so many and will be missed by all who knew him. May God comfort you and give you peace in the days ahead. We love you all!

Verlin, you know our love and prayers are with you as they have been. Both of you are special to us. Not a meeting took place that we didn't share hugs and love for each other and always words of appreciation. I never was given the piece of candy, because Tommy knew I had my bag full for the kids at church, but he always gave Benny his. I will always remember the times he slipped in my Sunday School class a few minutes before it was over and afterwards would come up and share words of encouragement to me. I know he wouldn't want to be back here, but we will surely miss him. There's a song Barry sings, Wish You Were Here, that has always been special to me since my dad passed. Get Paul to get that music and sing it for all of you. It is such a blessing. Our love and prayers are with you all. Benny and Joan

I was thinking about all the wonderful things that was said about Tommy during his celebration and chuckled thinking about the candy. Robbie said that there is a piece in his truck that Tommy gave him the last time he was at church. Tommy was a lot like Robbie's step-father. Frank also gave candy. Our girls named him the Candy Man. Tommy and Frank loved to give. It came from the heart, where Jesus lived. Heaven grows sweeter with each passing day. Our hearts and prayers are with you.

I'll always remember the good times we all had as us kids were growing up back in the 60's. We were all like one big happy family. Our familys made lots of good memories at church and at home. I remember all the good times at youth camp and the old time camp meetings in Greer. Tommy was like a second Daddy to me and Verlin you was my second mom, as Karen, Joyce, and Lem were like sisters and a little brother. As the years have gone by , we may have drifted apart and all went our own seperate ways as all families do but I just want you all to know that my heart is hurting for you right now and that I still love you all as much as I ever did. I will be keeping you all in my prayers and hope that God will help to ease your sorrow in the days and months ahead. Stay strong and rejoice in his passing for that is what he would want you to do just by knowing that he is in a better place than we can ever imagine. I am very sorry for your loss and as I said I'll be keeping you in my prayers.
