Trumor M. Mulkey
TEMPLE, TX-- Trumor M. Mulkey, age 94, of Temple, Texas, formerly of Spartanburg, died Thursday, July 3, 2008 at her residence. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday, July 10, at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens in Spartanburg with Rev. Mike McGee officiating. A visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 PM Wednesday, July 9, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel in Spartanburg.
Mrs. Mulkey was born January 4, 1914 in Walnut Grove, South Carolina to Hayne William and Nancy Adeline (Lanford) McCarley. She resided in Walnut Grove and Moore, South Carolina for 25 years, Spartanburg for 63 years and Temple for the past six years. She graduated from Woodruff High School. She married George H. Mulkey on August 21, 1941. He preceded her in death on October 9, 1966. She owned and operated restaurants in South Carolina for many years and worked at Smith's Economy Drug Store in Spartanburg for 19 years, retiring in 1989. She was a charter member of Morningside Baptist Church in Spartanburg where she taught the 12 year old girls' Sunday School class for many years. She was also very active in WMU and sang in the choir.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, five brothers, three sisters and several nieces. Survivors include her daughter, Dianne Arwood and husband, Dennis of Temple; two grandchildren, Richard Arwood and wife, Tracie of Temple, Heather Green and husband, Chris of Ft. Myers, FL; and three great grandchildren, Aaron Purcella, Nicolyn Purcella and Abbie Arwood all of Temple. Also surviving is one sister, Harriett Scruggs of Morrow, OH and numerous nieces and nephews.
