Iverson Warinner Obituary

Iverson L. "Ivy" Warinner, the maestro of life, took his final bow on January 25, 2024, concluding a grand performance that commenced on October 28, 1944, in Albany, KY. Born into the legacy of the late Senator Edward P., his journey echoed with pride, symbolized by cigars distributed with paternal exuberance in the streets of Albany.

From the streets of Albany to the halls of Frankfort, KY, where he served as a Capitol Page alongside his father, Iverson's early years were adorned with fond memories. Raised with fortitude of his steadfast mother and older siblings Paul and Joanne after the loss of his father, he remained a stalwart guardian to his cherished mother and younger sister Harriet until his final breath.

Guided by the encouragement of his late sister Joanne, Iverson's academic journey led him to become the valedictorian of Albany High School and delve into the realms of History and Theatre Performance at Berea College. Here, he not only embraced the rigors of higher education but also fostered profound connections to arts, culture, and lifelong friendships within the theater community.

With distinctions in Theatre and Training and Development, Iverson's 47- year tenure at Spalding University was a testament to his unwavering commitment to education and mentorship. Retirement didn't signify an end, but rather a continuation of his legacy, as he poured boundless love and wisdom into an ever-expanding network of friends and family.

Iverson's life was a symphony of attributes, a harmonious balance of a traveler, gourmand, listener, director, French enthusiast, cultured intellectual, and more. From the glitz of Hollywood, to the comforting warmth of Bowman Av. and Jefferson Place, his presence illuminated every corner of life's stage. To those who had the privilege of knowing him, Iverson Warinner transcended the ordinary-he was a living tapestry of experiences, an irreplaceable mentor, and a soul profoundly attuned to the essence of life.

Iverson was predeceased by his parents, Senator, E.P. And Josephine Dempsey Warinner, his siblings Edgar Paul Warinner, Jr., Joanne Katherine Sawyer and David Hartwell Sawyer.

He is survived by his loving sister, Harriett Warinner Hile(Steve Hile). His nieces and nephews, Stephen Sawyer, Paula Warinner, Stephen Paul Hile, Ed Warinner, John David Warinner, Michael Warinner, Nicole Zinner Hile, Jonathan Dempsey Hile, Nicholas Joseph Hile, Megan Faris Hile, Scott Thomas Hile, Stephen Eugene Hile. His Great-Nieces and Nephews Lillian Grace Hile, Katelynn Rose Hile, Jackson Nicholas Hile, Stephen Gregory Hile, Annie Jean Hile, John Joseph Hile and Josie Lyvers and many more great nephews and nieces.

Services will be held at First Baptist Church in Taylorsville, KY on Friday, February 9th at 12:00pm. Visitation will be from 11:00am - 12:00pm at the church.

Iverson was a singular character. One of my great high school regrets is that he left T-ville HS the year before I entered. He was always larger than life and truly one of the most interesting men in the world. RIP, Iverson. I dare say you're simply relocated to an even greater stage. My condolences who all knew and loved (redundant?) him.
